Eric On is a horn player from Las Vegas, Nevada, currently based in Florida. He is an active performer composer, and teacher, working in both orchestral and educational settings. Currently, Eric serves as Principal Horn for the Ocala Symphony, and acting Assistant Principal Horn for the Tallahassee Symphony. Eric is also a regular performer within the Las Vegas area, mainly playing in ensembles such as the Las Vegas Philharmonic, Las Vegas Sinfonietta, and the Henderson Symphony.
Eric runs an online consultation service for brass players of all ages, with the sole mission to prep and advise for performances/auditions. Prior to this, Eric partnered with the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts and the Keyes Conservatory as a Horn Coach. Students of Eric have gone on to place in NMEA's All-State Ensembles, Blue Lake Music Festival, Las Vegas Youth Orchestra, and the YoungArts Music Competition. With students going off to receiving scholarships at University of Reno, University of Las Vegas, Florida State University, and University of Arizona. Currently, Eric is pursuing his Masters in Horn Performance at Florida State University, under Michelle Stebleton. As a Horn Graduate Assistant, Eric holds positions in Florida State’s Opera Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra, Wind Orchestra, New Music Ensemble “Polymorphia”, and the Graduate Brass Quintet. He holds a bachelor's in music composition from the University of Nevada (Las Vegas) studying under Diego Vega, Jennifer Bellor, and Viet Cuong. In addition, Eric studied horn under Bill Bernatis, Chris Castellanos, and Beth Lano. Eric has been under scholarship-awarded fellowships for festivals such as The National Music Festival, Prague Summer Nights, and Boston Brass Chamber Intensives. Aside from music Eric enjoys hiking, traveling, and taking care of his many fish tanks and guinea pigs. |
