Logan Place, D.M.A., serves as Instructor of Trumpet at Southeastern Louisiana University, where he has been a member of the faculty since 2007. In addition to teaching applied trumpet, Dr. Place has also served as Interim Department Head and Undergraduate Coordinator.

Dr. Place earned the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in Trumpet Performance from the University of North Texas and the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Henderson State University. His research interests include trumpet pedagogy, brass performance, and historical repertoire, with particular emphasis on helping students and teachers navigate the difficulties of braces. His dissertation examined William Lovelock's Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra, and his scholarship has appeared in the International Trumpet Guild Journal and Grove Music Online.

An active performer throughout the Gulf South, Dr. Place has appeared as a soloist and guest artist at universities across the United States and performs regularly with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, and numerous other regional orchestras and chamber ensembles. He is 3rd Trumpet with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra and Mississippi Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Place also is Principal Trumpet in Southeastern Brass. He has presented invited clinics and masterclasses for the International Trumpet Guild, state music education conferences, and universities nationwide.
