Blackberry River Stomp, for brass quintet

NEW RELEASE:  Kim Scharnberg's Blackberry River Stomp for brass quintet, ​was written for the 2007 Norfolk (CT) Chamber Music Festival and premiered by the Midnight Brass Quintet from Northwestern University.  The title comes from the river that runs nearby that in days past, was purely functional, providing power and development for the town but it's now mainly a recreational waterway.  These different eras are represented in the two contrasting themes:  one an old time pre-jazz swing and the other a more open and heroic sound.  They are connected by a three note rhythm that reoccurs throughout the piece.
