P. Brent Register

P. Brent Register (b. 1960) is a professional composer, musician, and educator. He is Professor Emeritus at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, where he taught flute, oboe, and bassoon for 32 years, and currently performs as oboist/solo English horn with various ensembles throughout Pennsylvania.
He received the Bachelor of Music Education and Doctor of Musical Arts (Oboe Performance) degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His Master of Music (English horn Performance) degree is from the Manhattan School of Music. In addition, he has studied at the Mannes College of Music, the University of Oslo, and the Norges Musikkhøgskolen in Oslo through a generous grant from the American-Scandinavian Foundation. As a composer, Brent’s works have received numerous awards and include premieres both nationally and internationally. His output is primarily chamber music for woodwinds accompanied by either piano or guitar. Gossamer Dreams is his composition debut for solo horn with piano. |
