La Vita del Corno, for eight horns

“La Vita del Corno” (Italian for ‘life of the horn’) was written for the University of Kansas Horn Ensemble in 2006 and performed for the Mid-South Horn Workshop at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. The majestic main theme is introduced by the 3rd and 4th horns and develops through various permutations throughout the score. Every part has an opportunity showcase their playing as they are given the main theme. The andante section of the work is a ballad, rich in harmonic texture and sensitive writing. This work is suitable for community, college, and professional groups and is enjoyable for both the players and the audience.
