Michael Hampf
Michael Hampf is a professional horn player and recording professional working in the Washington D.C metro area. Currently, Mr. Hampf performs with the Arlington (VA) Philharmonic and Tysons McLean Symphony Orchestra as well as being a member of the United States Air Force Band Ceremonial Brass.
Previous playing positions also include second horn in the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra, fourth horn with the Abilene (TX) Philharmonic, and principal horn with the Prince William Symphony. As a student, Mr. Hampf earned his Bachelor of Music Degree in Horn Performance from The University of Texas where he studied horn with Wayne Barrington and composition with Kevin Puts. Following his undergraduate studies, he went on to earn his Master of Music Degree in Horn Performance from the Yale University School of Music where he studied with William Purvis. In addition to his musical studies, Mr. Hampf also holds degrees in Business and Social Sciences. An inveterate tinkerer, Mr. Hampf enjoys designing and building his own audio recording and playback equipment. When not exploring musical pursuits, he can be found honing his other passion in martial arts where he holds a third degree black belt in Shaolin Kempo and currently trains in Wudang Kung Fu and Tai Chi. |
