Nagy Zsolt Gábor (1978 - ), virtuoso horn player, teacher and band conductor, is deputy conductor of the Budapest Garrison Band. Zsolt was born into a non-musical family in Mezőkövesd, Hungary in 1978. At age seven he started to learn trumpet at the local music school, at ten changing to horn. He attended the Kodály Zoltán Secondary Music School of Debrecen from 1992 to 1994 and the Weiner Leó Secondary Music School of Budapest from 1994 to 1996. He took his degrees at the University of Miskolc, majoring in horn and band conducting in 2000 and 2001. During his study, his teachers and professors were Panyi Zoltán, Kökényesy Miklós, Szilágyi Pálma, Friedrich Ádám and Sereg János.
He was a horn player in the National Theatre of Miskolc for two years before he joined the Army in 2002. After six years as a horn player, he was commissioned to be deputy conductor of the Budapest Garrison Band. He taught music in several Music Schools of Füzesabony, Mezőkövesd, Isaszeg and Pécel and was conductor the Band of Isaszeg and the Band of Pécel. He writes and arranges music mainly for horn or chamber music groups. His pieces are sometimes influenced by jazz but he likes classical and modern music too.
