Ninety-Five Minutes Over Jupiter, for solo horn

"Ninety-Five Minutes Over Jupiter was inspired by a picture and blog post on NASA’s website dated September 28th, 2017. The picture is comprised of eleven color-enhanced images taken as the space probe Juno flew over the planet on September 1st of that same year. I found the colors of these pictures striking—representing the storms and atmospheric turbulence present on Jupiter. Additionally, since Juno orbited the planet vertically, the viewer is treated to vantage points that are typically unseen.
The narrative text in the score is based on the blog post that accompanies this image and describes what is being shown in each individual frame. The author not only addresses the vortexes of color contained in the image, but also the atmospheric anomalies that generates them and how the line of darkness can be clearly seen creeping across the planet, engulfing the colors below."
