Pure Brazilian fun!!

"Written during the 2020 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) pandemic, hence the title, the suite makes
use of the styles of Brazilian traditional folk music, rhythms and tonalities, in particular the ones
from the Northeast part of the country. It showcases four genres with a combination of beautiful
and lively movements: choro, valsa festiva, polka and frevo. The piece has moments of flair and
power in contrast with more playful characters. The piece was commissioned and dedicated to the
composer’s grandson, Nairam Simões.
