work songs is a suite of three pieces for low brass trio (horn, trombone, tuba). While not directly quoting any songs, the character of the pieces is reminiscent of various songs for work— spirituals, sea shanties, railroad songs, and the like. As with other recent works by the composer (such as allies and shoulder to shoulder) work songs explores themes of community, companionship, and the dignity of work.  Duration is approximately 11 minutes
