Brett MIller
Brett E. Miller (b. 1976) received his DMA in horn performance from the University of Maryland in May of 2007. In 2001, he earned his MM in horn performance with a cognate in music composition from Indiana University. Brett began his collegiate studies at Youngstown State University where he graduated in 1999 with a BM in horn performance including a minor in composition.
His 2009 CD release, “The Underside of Orange,” features eight original works composed and performed by Brett. The disc was reviewed in the journal of the International Horn Society and stated that Brett, “…has a highly creative soul,” is a “fine young musician with plenty of potential and talent,” and “easily manages all with solid, centered playing that is a joy to hear.” As a composer, Brett has over 30 original works, as well as several arrangements, published by Brass Arts Unlimited, Solid Brass Music, the Tuba-Euphonium Press, Potenza Music, and Eighth Note Publications. His works have been performed on six continents and are enjoyed by professional and amateur musicians alike. Brett is a founding member of the Barclay Brass and performs with this 11 piece ensemble throughout the DC area and beyond. Additionally, Brett performs frequently with his brass quintet, Brass Mosaic, and has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, Youngstown Symphony and the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra. Brett is a member of the USAF Band, Washington DC, and currently serves as Principal Horn of the Concert Band. |
