Five Songs, By Charles Ives

arr. for horn and piano, by Ian Zook

$23
brassarts ยท Five Songs, by Charles Ives - arr. Ian Zook
Carefully selected and arranged, these five early 20th century pieces paint a portrait of America as it was in and around the turn of the century.  This is Americana at its finest, neither overly sentimental nor jingoistic, these pieces take American themes and present them as real life, with deep feeling.
The arrangements challenge the horn player and accompanist, mainly showing the low and middle range of the instrument while saving the upper register for the grand finish!  Piano score is coil bound, with separate horn part.
Performance time:
  • Songs My Mother Taught Me  - 2:30
  • The Things Our Fathers Loved (and The Greatest of These Was Liberty) - 1:40
  • The Housatonic at Stockbridge - 3:35
  • Memories - {A: Very Pleasant, B: Rather Sad} - 2:30
  • The Circus Band - 2:45
Appropriate for recitals and concerts, as a complete work or as individual movements.
